Sacred valley

Today 4/26, we drove through th sacred valley - the valley of the urubamba river.

We headed toward Pisac. On the way we came upon a family run animal sanctuary. They rescue animals that were injured or abused. They had  a stork, puma, many camelids.
This is will I sing with Blanca, a very patient llama.

They also have 6 condors. This is an adult male.
This is a Juvenal female. She will keep her brown feathers until she's an adult.

We continued on our way to Pisac. The ruins here are on the mountain top surrounded by terraces.
There are tombs in the background in this picture.

We joked out to the sun observatory on top is the mountain.

We stopped for lunch at a touristy but delicious restaurant in urubamba. Jack would have loved it- everything was beige- corn beans chicken potatoes.

We continued to ollantaytambo. This is where the incas won a battle over the soaniatds.
These are terraces the soaniatds had to climb to get to the fortress. It was quite a climb even without tcks and spears being thrown down on us.
The temple on top. How did they get these huge slabs up that hill?
Steps up the terraces.
A royal jucuzzi.
