Chicago

We're in Chicago for the annual AAO convention.

As you can see there are lots of vendors. It's nice to learn about the latest science. Also got some new equipment for the office.
The weather was beautiful. Mid 80's one day.
Chicago goes all out for Halloween decorations. It was fun to see all the street decor. This spider was attacking an art gallery.
We did some shopping. I went up to Lincoln park and found some fun little shops.
And of course we enjoyed some delicious food including Armenian Trader Joe's and a tasting menu at trump tower.

Of course we hit ghirardelli a time or two.

More San Francisco for ASRS Meeting

The occasion for our trip is a medical meeting -- the Ametican Society of Retina Specialists. The organization's acronym is ASRS. They prefer to pronounce it "acers"  --  preferable to "ass rass" : )

August is a great month to visit, with typical summer high temperatures here in the 60's!  Here are more pics of a great week in SF.

Enjoying the flora at the Victorian era Conservatory in Golden Gate Park.

View from top of the Presidio. Letterman Army Medical Center on the Presidio is where I did my ophthalmology residency 1985 to 1988. The hospital's gone, but the splendid views remain.

We were the only non-Chinese in this very noisy delicious restaurant.

At the south gate of Chinatown

In the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

You know you're in San Francisco when... There's a public Yoga Room in the airport.

Perfect evening in San Francisco

Delicious dinner at le colonial. A quick hike up Nob Hill. Seeing Ghiberti's bronze doors. Walking the Chartres labyrinth in the fog with foghorns in the background. Followed by ice cream a Ghiradelli. All with my favorite person in the world.

San Francisco

We arrived in San Francisco late Tuesday  night. Will is attending an ASRS meeting. I'm Playing. This morning we rented bikes to ride around the area. We left Union square and headed to golden gate park.
We arrived safely despite crazy traffic.

We stopped at the conservatory. We've never been there before. The plants were beautiful.
Next we ride to the Presidio. We rode around for a bit reminiscing  of when we used to live here.
We rode along Crissy Field to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was really windy but we were impressed how the area had been restored to nature after the army left.

Will mid bridge.
We intended to have lunch in Sausalito but it was crazy crowded. So we took a ferry back to fishermans wharf and rode back to drop off the bikes.
We had a delicious dinner at a Moroccan restaurant.
